Harren Group Partners with Orca AI to Advance Data-Driven Safety and Efficiency Across Its Fleet

Harren Group, one of Germany’s leading ship-owning and maritime logistics companies, has announced a strategic partnership with Orca AI, a pioneer in maritime technology, to enhance navigational safety and operational efficiency across its new fleet of heavy-lift vessels, multipurpose ships, deck carriers, and bulkers. The collaboration marks a significant milestone in Harren Group’s pursuit of a data-driven, measurable safety culture.

“Our new Orca vessels already feature ultra-efficient engines and propulsion systems designed for emission-neutral operations,” said Nils Aden, Managing Director at Harren Group. “Now, by integrating Orca AI, we’re taking that commitment further—leveraging advanced situational awareness technology to improve safety, reduce fuel consumption, and enable more sustainable operations at sea.”

Aden emphasized that the partnership enables Harren Group to measure and analyze navigational behavior in ways that were previously impossible, aligning crews and fleet managers around data-driven insights rather than assumptions.

Connecting Bridge and Shore

The collaboration supports Harren Group’s shift toward quantifiable safety outcomes, with a focus on reducing near-misses and close encounters—key operational KPIs. Orca AI’s integrated system connects ship and shore through two core components: the SeaPod digital lookout onboard and the FleetView analytics dashboard ashore.

The SeaPod uses real-time visual and thermal imaging to detect risks early, empowering bridge teams to act proactively and avoid close-quarter situations. Meanwhile, FleetView consolidates navigational data for shore-based teams, enabling performance benchmarking, trend analysis, and targeted crew training. Recorded footage and event logs also enhance post-voyage assessments and continuous learning.

Yarden Gross, CEO and Co-founder of Orca AI, said: “Harren Group represents the next generation of maritime safety leadership. By combining real-world navigational data with AI-powered insights, they’re building a transparent and measurable safety model that empowers both crews and shore teams.”

Reinforcing ESG Commitments

Beyond technology adoption, the partnership integrates AI-powered safety and sustainability into Harren Group’s fleet DNA. By merging live computer-vision data with existing navigation systems, Orca AI enhances situational awareness, predicts risks, reduces bridge workload, and contributes to lower emissions, fewer incidents, and smarter operational decisions.

“At Harren Group, we share a responsibility to protect the ocean, empower our people, and embrace innovation,” Aden added. “This partnership reflects that commitment in action—navigating with care to safeguard what matters most.”

Setting a New Industry Standard

Gross concluded: “Partnerships like this demonstrate how forward-looking operators are embracing AI-driven situational awareness, data transparency, and measurable safety transformation as the foundation for future-ready maritime operations.”
