Samsung Raises Galaxy S26 Smartphone Prices as Memory Costs Surge

Samsung Electronics has raised prices for its flagship Galaxy S26 smartphone range, with higher memory-chip costs cited as a key factor behind the adjustment. The latest increases affect Samsung’s home market of South Korea and have also been reported in other markets.

Galaxy S26 Prices Increase in South Korea

In South Korea, the 256GB Galaxy S26 has increased by 149,600 won, moving from 1,254,000 won to 1,403,600 won.

The 256GB Galaxy S26+ has risen from 1,452,000 won to 1,601,600 won, while the 256GB Galaxy S26 Ultra has increased from 1,797,400 won to 1,947,000 won. The 1TB Galaxy S26 Ultra has seen a larger increase, rising to approximately 2.82 million won.

Samsung has also increased prices in the United States, with reported increases of around $100 across several models.

Rising Memory Costs Put Pressure on Smartphone Pricing

The price adjustments come as memory components have become significantly more expensive. Industry data cited by Seoul Economic Daily indicates that DRAM prices reached around $26 at the end of September, roughly double their March level.

The increase in memory demand is being linked to the expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure, which has placed additional pressure on the supply of memory components used in consumer electronics.

Samsung’s mobile business is therefore facing higher component costs even as demand for its flagship smartphones remains important to the company.

Wider Impact Across the Smartphone Market

Samsung is not the only smartphone manufacturer responding to higher component costs. Apple has also increased prices on some existing iPhone models, highlighting the broader impact that memory and semiconductor costs are having across the consumer electronics industry.

The Galaxy S26 price adjustments demonstrate how rising component costs can increasingly influence smartphone pricing even after devices have already launched.
