Bosch has started delivering key hardware components to Kodiak AI as the two companies move closer to large-scale deployment of autonomous trucking technology.
The partnership marks a major step forward in the development of production-ready self-driving trucks powered by Kodiak’s autonomous driving system, the Kodiak Driver.
Moving Quickly from Partnership to Production
Since announcing their collaboration earlier this year, Bosch and Kodiak have rapidly progressed from strategic planning to active engineering and testing.
Kodiak is currently testing Bosch camera systems and integrating prototype sensors into its proprietary SensorPods — modular hardware units designed to house the sensors required for autonomous driving.
The company is also evaluating Bosch vehicle actuation components as part of efforts to build a fully redundant and production-ready autonomous driving platform.
Building a Scalable Autonomous Trucking Platform
The collaboration is focused on developing a reliable autonomous platform capable of supporting high-volume deployment of driverless trucks.
By combining advanced hardware, firmware, and software integration, the two companies aim to industrialise the Kodiak Driver for commercial operations across the freight transport sector.
Don Burnette said the speed of progress highlights the strong alignment between the two companies.
According to Burnette, the successful testing of Bosch components demonstrates that the partnership has already moved beyond planning and into the practical stages of large-scale production development.
Combining Technology and Manufacturing Expertise
The collaboration brings together Kodiak’s autonomous driving technology and Bosch’s global engineering and manufacturing capabilities.
Peter Tadros said the partnership has strengthened both companies’ understanding of real-world autonomous vehicle requirements while helping create a roadmap for scaling autonomous trucking systems across the industry.
The project is also expected to improve system integration, serviceability, and modularity — all essential for the successful commercial rollout of autonomous freight solutions.
Technology to Be Showcased at ACT Expo
Kodiak’s SensorPod technology, featuring Bosch-developed hardware, will be showcased at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas from 3–6 May.
The display will give industry stakeholders an opportunity to explore the latest advancements in autonomous trucking technology and the growing momentum behind driverless freight transport.
