Schaeffler Showcases Full Electrified Powertrain Portfolio at 2026 Symposium

Schaeffler is set to present its comprehensive range of electrified powertrain technologies at its 13th Automotive Symposium in Bühl this June, highlighting solutions across battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrid systems, and range-extended electric vehicles (REEVs).

The event, held every four years, is the company’s flagship automotive platform and will run under the theme “Beyond Driving. Innovation made by Schaeffler.”


Covering the full spectrum of electrified mobility

At the symposium, Schaeffler will demonstrate a broad portfolio that includes both individual components and fully integrated systems. Key technologies on display will include:

  • Electric axles (e-axles)
  • Hybrid transmission systems
  • Scalable inverter platforms
  • Advanced bearing solutions

This integrated approach reflects the company’s strategy of delivering complete powertrain solutions that support multiple electrification pathways.


Advancing efficiency in battery electric vehicles

For BEVs, Schaeffler is focusing on highly integrated electric drive systems designed to improve efficiency while reducing complexity.

Its inverter platforms feature X-in-1 functionality, combining multiple components into a single system to streamline design and optimise performance. In addition, the company is developing current-insulated bearings to enhance durability and reliability in electric drivetrains.

By improving material efficiency in electric motors and refining development processes, Schaeffler aims to shorten time-to-market for new technologies.


Flexible solutions for hybrids and range extenders

In the hybrid and REEV segments, Schaeffler offers solutions across P1 to P3 architectures, enabling manufacturers to adopt varying levels of electrification.

A dedicated hybrid transmission system integrates hardware, software, and control functions into a unified solution. The company also positions REEVs as a practical step in the transition to full electrification, using internal combustion engines more efficiently within an electrified drivetrain.

According to Matthias Zink, CEO of Powertrain and Chassis at Schaeffler, the company’s technology cluster approach underscores its ability to deliver end-to-end solutions.

He noted that Schaeffler provides customers with the complete spectrum of powertrain technologies—from individual components to fully integrated systems—supporting diverse mobility strategies across global markets.

The Bühl symposium serves as a key forum for engaging with automotive partners and showcasing next-generation technologies. With growing demand for electrified mobility solutions, Schaeffler’s latest portfolio highlights its commitment to innovation, flexibility, and efficiency in the evolving automotive landscape.
