Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric Offers Up to 452 Miles of Range

Mercedes-Benz is putting long-distance electric driving at the centre of its new CLA, combining a claimed range of up to 452 miles with advanced connectivity, digital technology and improved efficiency.

The Mercedes-Benz CLA 250+ AMG Line Premium Plus is powered by an electric drivetrain producing 268 hp and is capable of accelerating from 0 to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds.

One of the model’s biggest selling points is its driving range. Mercedes-Benz claims up to 452 miles on a single charge, while real-world summer driving can deliver more than 350 miles, depending on conditions and driving style.

The CLA also uses connected technology to simplify charging. Its smartphone application can locate rapid-charging stations, provide information on charger availability and incorporate charging stops into navigation routes.

Inside, the electric CLA takes a technology-focused approach, featuring a 10.25-inch driver display and a 14-inch central infotainment screen. Higher-specification versions add a second large display for the front passenger.

The vehicle also incorporates connected services, downloadable functions, video streaming and other digital features, highlighting Mercedes-Benz’s focus on software and connectivity within its latest electric models.

Efficiency is another key strength, with early driving impressions indicating consumption of close to 4 miles per kWh. The CLA also features a front storage compartment for the charging cable, helping preserve space in the main luggage area.

Despite its technology-heavy interior, Mercedes-Benz has retained premium materials in frequently touched areas, including metal elements around the door handles, window controls and other cabin features.

The new CLA represents Mercedes-Benz’s broader strategy of combining long-range electric mobility with connected vehicle technology, while targeting customers looking for a premium electric sedan with fewer compromises around charging and range.
