JD Power 2024 Study: Hyundai Motor Group Masters Automotive Technology Integration

JAKARTA – The latest report from JD Power reveals that several automotive manufacturers in the United States have had great success in integrating advanced technology into their latest vehicles.

Through a Tech Experience Index 2024 study, JD Power surveyed new car owners to assess the technological features that consumers encounter, both those that cause problems and those that are considered very satisfying. This survey involved 81,296 new car owners who made purchases in the last 90 days. Apart from Tech Experience Index, JD Power also routinely conducts other studies such as US Automotive Performance, Execution, and Layout Study (APEAL) and US Initial Quality Study (IQS

Quoting from Autoblogging, Monday, August 26, JD Power assessed the challenges faced by car owners against the new technology feature using the scale of “problems per 100 vehicles” (PP100). Based on these results, automotive manufacturers were scored for a total of up to 1,000 points. Among premium brands, Genesis (vision of luxury vehicles from Hyundai Motor Group) won first place, while Hyundai is in the top position for the mass-market brand category.

Other premium brands such as Lexus and BMW complete the top three, while in the mass-market, Kia and GMC categories they are in second and third place.

“Many innovative technologies are now present to meet customer needs, but this year’s study shows that some technologies are actually considered less useful or even disturbing,” said Technological Director JD Power. The study divides 40 automotive technologies into four categories: convenience, evolving automation, energy and sustainability, as well as infotainment and connectivity. Some vehicles show an advantage in certain categories. For example, Toyota Sequoia gets a convenience award for its innovative rear rear rear rear mirror camera system.

Genesis GV70 won the award in the emerging automation category thanks to the front traffic warning system, winning among premium brands. While in the mass-market segment, Kia Carnival also received a similar award. BMW iX made achievements in the energy and sustainability category for its one- pedal braking system, while BMW X6 and Hyundai Santa Fe won awards in the infotainment category and connectivity thanks to their mobile-based key system.
