Retaining its position as South Africa’s top-selling automotive brand, Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM) recorded solid sales performance in April 2026, with 10 188 new vehicles sold. Although this reflected a decrease of 3 135 units compared to March 2026, the company maintained a strong 21.2% share of the local market.
Toyota passenger vehicles accounted for 5 873 units sold during the month. Leading the charge were the Corolla Cross with 1 144 units, followed by the Vitz (772), Rumion (747), Starlet (733), and Fortuner (664).
Toyota’s premium division, Lexus, recorded 78 new vehicle sales in April. The NX led the luxury range with 37 units sold, while the GX and LX followed with 22 and 10 units respectively.
In the light commercial vehicle segment, Toyota sold 2 955 new Hilux bakkies, once again securing the Hilux’s place as South Africa’s best-selling bakkie with a 28.9% market share. The Land Cruiser 79 achieved 451 sales, while the Hiace registered 387 units. Additionally, 74 new Quantum models were sold during the month.
Within the heavy commercial vehicle category, Hino South Africa reported total sales of 214 units. Meanwhile, Toyota’s parts division supplied close to two million parts locally and exported a further 326 135 parts internationally.
