Mitsubishi Introduces a New Robot in its Low-Cost Series

Mitsubishi Electric has introduced the Melfa RV-12CRL, a six-axis robot in its RV-CR series, designed for cost-effective automation solutions. Rated IP65 for enhanced durability, the RV-12CRL offers a 1,504 mm reach and a 12 kg payload, making it ideal for applications that require extended reach, such as machine tending in tight or hard-to-access spaces.

The RV-12CRL is designed with internal cabling and air hoses, enhancing the flexibility of end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) with 30 pins of signal cabling. Mitsubishi Electric has also equipped the robot with its MelServo-J5 servo motors, featuring battery-less encoders that eliminate the need for frequent and costly encoder battery replacements, simplifying maintenance.

The robot’s J4 and J6 axes offer a higher allowable movement of inertia, enabling it to support larger tooling options for diverse applications, including machine tending, case packing, and pick-and-place tasks. Safety functions are managed through the CR800 controller, which provides full integration with Mitsubishi Electric’s intelligent safety monitoring features.
