Lianhe Sowell Advances Automotive Automation with Delivery of Precision Vision Spray Painting Robot to Mercedes-Benz Asia

Lianhe Sowell International Group, a leading Chinese provider of industrial machine vision products and solutions, has successfully delivered one of its next-generation automated precision vision spray painting robots to Mercedes-Benz’s largest Body & Paint (B&P) Center in Asia.

This milestone underscores Lianhe Sowell’s strategic expansion into automated spray painting technologies and its growing presence in the high-end automotive aftermarket service segment. The company views this deployment as a new benchmark in intelligent, efficient, and precise body and paint operations, solidifying its position as a global leader in precision vision-based spray painting robotics.

Breakthrough in Automated Painting Precision and Efficiency

The delivered robot features Lianhe Sowell’s proprietary high-precision 3D vision recognition system combined with advanced AI-driven dynamic path planning technology. This enables real-time scanning and identification of vehicle body contours, allowing the robot to automatically optimize spray paths and paint application with millimeter-level accuracy.

Compared to traditional manual spray painting, the robotic system reduces paint consumption by more than 20%, increases operational efficiency by over 30%, and significantly lowers volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions. These improvements contribute to greener, low-carbon production practices and support Mercedes-Benz in reducing operational costs.

Deployed at a Flagship Mercedes-Benz Facility in Beijing

Located in Beijing, the Mercedes-Benz Asia B&P Center is the region’s largest, with a digitalized and automated infrastructure capable of servicing over 10,000 premium vehicles annually. The newly installed robotic system will be used on the luxury vehicle repair line, enabling factory-grade paint restoration for each vehicle serviced.

Leveraging its mature industrial vision technology and tailored solution capabilities, Lianhe Sowell has become a key partner in the center’s automation upgrade, setting a precedent for intelligent, high-performance repair operations.

Looking Ahead: Smart Diagnostics and Expanded Collaboration

This delivery marks a significant milestone in Lianhe Sowell’s continued growth within the automotive aftermarket. The company is now focusing on further technological advancements, including remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and data-driven spray process optimization.

Looking forward, Lianhe Sowell intends to deepen its collaboration with the Mercedes-Benz B&P Center to jointly shape the future of high-end automotive paint automation—developing new standards, pioneering new concepts, and driving innovation in precision vision spray robotics.
