Josh Olphin becomes head of business development at Secondmind

Secondmind, a company that provides cloud-native optimization solutions to help engineers develop and design cars, has appointed Josh Olphin as its new head of business development for the EMEA region.

Olphin joins Secondmind from Dassault Systèmes, where he built a strong reputation for developing strategic partnerships that drove significant business growth in the automotive and aerospace sectors.

At Secondmind, Olphin will lead the EMEA business development team, focusing on strengthening partnerships with auto makers, Tier 1 suppliers and engineering service companies. His insights into sustainable vehicle development, electrification and software-defined vehicles aim to inform the company’s product roadmap.

According to Secondmind, Olphin’s appointment complements the recent addition of Morgan Jenkins as chief product officer and reflects the company’s momentum in 2024, following strategic partnership expansions and successful funding rounds.

Gary Brotman, CEO at Secondmind, said, “Josh possesses an impressive ability to grow revenue, develop and deepen relationships anchored in mutual respect and value, and close long-term contracts with key players across the model-based systems engineering and simulation ecosystems.

“His enthusiasm for the Secondmind brand, technology and the potential for our solutions to transform vehicle design and development is infectious, and the team and I are excited to have someone of Josh’s caliber and exceptional character with us on our journey.”

Olphin added, “I am thrilled to join Secondmind, a company that I see as a leader in automotive, with versatile technology that has the power to transform how we design, build, simulate, test and certify products. I hope over the coming weeks to share with my network the transformative potential of our solutions.”
